Oilsands – Vital for US Refineries & North-American Energy Independence

he Canadian oil sands will continue to grow in coming years, despite lower crude oil prices and other “headwinds,” says a new report from consultancy IHS Inc.

Canada will be the third largest supplier of oil supply growth in the world the next decade.

US refiners require 3M barrels of heavy oil a day .. from oilsands or other heavy oil suppliers, like socialist Venezuela.

Don’t believe all the nay-sayers and global warming fear mongerers predicting the collapse of it, suddenly to be replaced by arrays of solar panles and thousands of thump thump thump bird killing wind mills !

Don’t get me wrong, I love energy efficiency and clean energy – hey, I drive an energy efficient hybird even – especially solar energy, but not lunacy or waste of our precious tax dollars on climate religion. More on my thoughts in an earlier blog here: http://www.prestprop.com/2014/08/12/inexpensive-energy-critical-economic-growth-germanys-model-way-go/

Perhaps, just perhaps we will use solar energy to drive out the oil from the oilsands, like they do now in Oman. More on this here: http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/energy/stories/oman-invests-in-solar-energy-to-extract-oil. Or a nuclear power plant even. Or would this be too bold for our new Green Czarina in Alberta ? K Wynn blanketed Ontario in solar power panels and debt, so why not do s.th. similar, but better, in Alberta ? Stay tuned here !

Even our “green” ever so fanatic climate change believing Provincial Premiers have now agreed on an Energy-East pipeline strategy to share the made-in-Canada oil wealth, rather than importing unethical oil from Iraq or Saudi-Arabia. Brad Wall’s suggestion that we should flow the transfer payments through the same pipeline apparently has done the trick here !

Bravo !

Alberta oil is not nearly as dirty as often assumed, specifically There are 13 oil fields in California, plus crude oil blends originating in at least six other countries, that generate a higher level of upstream greenhouse gas emissions than Canadian dilbit blends;

• Crude oil from Alaska’s North Slope, which makes up about 12 per cent of California’s total crude slate, is actually “dirtier” than the Canadian dilbit known as “Access Western Blend”;

• The “dirtiest oil in North America” is not produced in Canada, but just outside Los Angeles, where the Placerita oil field generates about twice the level of upstream emissions as Canadian oilsands production; and

• The title of “world’s dirtiest oil” goes to Brass crude blend from Nigeria, where the uncontrolled release of methane during the oil extraction process generates upstream GHG emissions that are over four times higher than Canadian dilbit.

The environment benefits too after the oil is removed from the sand: http://www.calgaryherald.com/business/energy-resources/Oilsands+emissions+dust+have+fertilizing+effect/11230940/story.html

P.S.: Do they actually teach highschool kids about this massive energy source and #1 source of corporate income tax, personal income taxes, CPP, royalty income, PST and GST for the ENTIRE country, funding schools, hospitals, universities, roads and transit infrastructure, or do they only teach about allegedly man-made global warming disguised, incovenienty, as “truth” ?
